FREDERICK VOLCK(GERMAN, AMERICAN, CONFEDERATE AMERICAN (1833-1891) SCULPTURED THIS ORIGINAL BRONZE OF GEN. LEE IN 1863 WHILE THE CIVIL WAR WAS STILL RAGING ON WITH NO END IN SITE. SCULPOT FREDERICK VOLCK TOOK ACTUAL MEASUREMENTS OF LEE & LEE'S HORSE TRAVELER FOR A TATUE TO BE ERECTED IN RICHMOND, VA. THIS STATUE WAS A ABREVIATED STATUE OF ONLY LEE. VOLCK, A NATIVE OF NURENBERG, GERMANY WAS EMPLOYED IN THE CONFEDERATE NAVAL ORDINANCE & HYDROGRAPHY DEPT IN 1863. THIS SCULPTOR WAS TO COMMERATE THE VICTORIES THAT LEE BROUGHT TO THE SOUTH AS WELL AS A RALLYING SYMBOL FOR THE CONFEDERACY. THIS SCULPTOR OF LEE IS FROM THE ORIGINAL TERRA COTTA DONE BY VOLCK & IS GUARANTEED TO BE ORIGINAL. THE DIMENSIONS OF THE BRONZE OF LEE  HT;19",W: 8".
